We go out into our community and world to share the Good News as we bring justice to those in distress.
Jesus said to his followers, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
That’s because our world is hurting. The news on any given day is full of stories about racism, human trafficking, domestic abuse, divorce, fatherlessness, homelessness and more. Darkness is all around us. But darkness is not the end of the story. God sent his Son to free us from all this brokenness. And he commissioned us, his Church, to be the light; to share this good news with those who are suffering.
Scripture tells us that, “What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.” ~James 1:27
What would happen if a church embraced the biggest risk: Taking God at his Word and living as if it’s true?
So, let us be about this: “Say no to wrong. Learn to do right; Seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; Plead the case of the widow.” ~Isaiah 1:17
