Why do I need a Mentor?

We all need to be mentored.  Show me someone who is successful at/in anything they do, and I’ll show you the wise people that have guided and navigated them down that path.  Jesus’ disciples were mentored, our pastor is/was mentored, and most likely any “successful” person you know was mentored.  At EverGreen Ministries we strive to make passionate followers of Jesus.  This means that those who have gone before us willingly walk with and guide others.  There is no better feeling then knowing that we have someone to navigate life with.  As disciples, we were never called to live life in isolation.  We are called to seek wisdom from godly people.  We are called to find mentors.

Why should I be a Mentor?

Jesus commissioned his disciples that in their going they are to make other disciples.  Jesus expects us to do the same in the 21st century.  It may look a little different than it did over 2,000 years ago, but the concept is still the same.  We are passionate followers of Jesus who willingly enter into community with those desiring to become passionate followers of Jesus.  There is no better way to aid in the process of restoration than to join in someone’s life, providing guidance and wisdom along their journey.  Every mentor finds that they learn a lot more about Jesus by mentoring.  Also, it is a great reward to see others grow to become more passionate followers of Jesus.  Join in this kingdom work!
